Description: This interactive workshop will explain the distinction between performative and authentic allyship behaviors in the context of diversity, equity and inclusion. The topics that will be discussed include, allyship, empathy, relatedness, effective communication, and others. This workshop includes sharing examples of performative and authentic allyship behavior in the workplace. The facilitator will encourage the sharing of experiences and perspectives. There will also be discussion about how performative vs. authentic behavior impacts recruiting, onboarding, inclusion, and ultimately retention.

Joy Stephens of Loeb Leadership will present and guide us to a better understanding of allyship in the workplace.

As a result of this workshop, participants will:
• Understand the difference between authentic vs. performative allyship.
• Increase their self-awareness.
• Learn how to be recognized as an ally.
• Foster mutual understanding and dialogue
