Capital Chapter Hurricane Harvey Relief Donation

Dear Members,

Earlier this week, through the Chapter Leadership online community, the Boston Chapter challenged all chapters to donate $5/member to the Red Cross in support of their Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in Houston and the surrounding area. As you would expect, many Chapters have already answered the call.

The Executive Committee and Leadership team have decided that the Capital Chapter should answer the call and make a donation of $5 per member.  With our current membership count (380 members), that would total $1,880 – which was proposed to be rounded up to $2,000, which will be donated by the Capital Chapter on behalf of all of our members.

In addition to this Chapter-wide contribution, we’d like to challenge our members to match or exceed that amount with your own individual donations. You can use this link to contribute to the donation via the Chapter website through Thursday, September 7th, after which we will tally up the total contributions, announce the total raised by our members, and send the full donation amount to the American Red Cross. I hope you will join us and the rest of the ALA community in doing our part to provide much-needed support to those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Regards,

Richard Gibson
Chapter President
