2019 - 2020 Slate of Officers

Dear Members,

The 2019 - 2020 Nominating Committee of the Capital Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators has met and is pleased to submit the following nominees for the 2019 - 2020 slate of officers. All nominees are eligible to hold office according to the Chapter bylaws and have accepted their nominations, and we are confident that they will serve the Chapter well. 

We thank the Nominating Committee of Claudia Baragano, Camden Miller, Dot Mooney, and Cindy Schuler for their dedication to this task.

Danita Ellis
Administrative Manager

Danita Ellis brings over five years of experience in Office Administration built on a broad background within and outside law firms. From her early career as a first grade teacher, Danita moved into the law firm environment eleven years ago, initially taking an entry-level position in Records Management.  Danita progressed to department supervisor and from there to office management.  Danita is currently the Administrative Manager of the DCA, BWI, NYC, DEN and LAX offices of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, LLP. This will be her third leadership role with ALA, she was previously the Branch Administrators Community co-chair and chair from 2015 to 2017.



Valerie Williamson

Valerie Williamson began her professional career in the U.S. Air Force where she served as a Spanish Translator assigned to the National Security Agency in Fort Meade, Maryland, then later as a military justice paralegal and a non-commissioned officer of the base’s civil law department. As a professional with over 20 years in the legal industry, Valerie’s experience has spanned roles that range from a union shop steward, paralegal manager, and now office administrator. Having spent the bulk of her career in the DC market, Valerie has focused on progressive law firm management dealing with budget and compensation, training and talent development, employee relations, and coaching. Valerie is an active member of the Capital Chapter of ALA who seeks to contribute further in a leadership role.



Tania Jose
Human Resources Manager
Powers Pyles Sutter & Verville, P.C.

Tania is a human resources professional currently employed as an HR Manager at Powers, Pyles, Sutter and Verville PC. Tania began her career as an intern and fell in love with the field. She developed progressive HR experience through opportunities at a healthcare facility, a finance firm, as well as another law firm, Holland and Knight LLP. Tania has experience with employee relations, recruiting, talent management, staff supervision, as well as compensation and benefits to name a few. Tania is active with the ALA, LFVA and SHRM. At the ALA, on the chapter level, she serves as the co-chair for the Next Generation Leaders community.



Jackie Thomas

Jackie Thomas is the current DC Office Administrator at Arnall Golden Gregory LLP and has been an ALACC member since 2014.  Jackie is currently part of the chapter leadership as a Branch Office Administrator Chair and has been part of the ALACC Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and the ALACC Education Committee. Jackie has been an advocate for community service programs not only in her role as DC Office Administrator in her firm, coordinating Jeans Days for a Cause every month to benefit different organizations, participating in Lawyers Have Heart, as well as participating in the ALA Cap Chap holiday giving programs, but has also brought community service programs into the ALA Cap Chap thru her role as co-chair and chair of Branch Community over the last 2 years.  Last year as co-chair she introduced the Cap Chap to Family Matters DC and DC Central Kitchen.  She then helped coordinate the third quarter community service day with DC Central Kitchen for the chapter, which was a great success.  This year as chair she introduced the section to A Wider Circle and helped that organization set up multiple offices to do clothing drives for their Professional Development Program, including holding one at AGG.  In addition to her community services work at the firm and ALA, Jackie also volunteers on the Brewers Ball Committee for Cystic Fibrosis as well as part of the kids ministry at her church.  Jackie would bring the same sense of enthusiasm for community service to the role of VP-Elect of Community Services.    



Mary Randolph

Mary has a 30 year history in the Law Office Management and Operations arenas. Her background includes extensive involvement at a number of law firms in the areas of overall office management, human resources, recruiting/retention, space management and vendor relationships. She is currently the Operations Manager for Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP. This is her second leadership role with the ALA; she previously served the Capital Chapter as the Secretary-Elect and Secretary for the 2011-2012 period.
