Re: 2006 Burton Awards for Best Law Firm Publications

Dear ALA Member:

ALA is once again proud to remind you of its continued association with The Burton Awards in Legal Achievement. As previously, only ALA members will be able to submit a publication they produced for consideration for "Best Law Firm/Law Department Publication" and "Best Law Firm/Law Department Newsletter." In addition, only ALA members will be able to submit an entry for the "Best Law Firm Compendium," "Best Law Firm Advertisement" and the "Best Law Firm Profile." Awards will be given for first place and for honorable mention.

Please note: Entries are due to the Burton Awards for Legal Achievement by Friday, March 31.

The publication you nominate can be a magazine, a compendium, a newsletter or other communication that was published for your firm. The entry must be in written form, rather than Internet disseminated, and must have been published during 2005. It must also be intended to inform clients or the public about legal issues or subjects. The criteria for selecting the best publication include the writing style and technique, research, analysis and content.

The 2006 Burton Awards Program will be held in the Great Hall of The Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. on Monday evening, June 12, 2006. This year's theme is "Legends of the Law."

The Burton Awards program is a nonprofit event that is also held in association with the Library of Congress and its Law Library. It has been hailed as truly one of the premier awards programs in law and we are delighted to continue with this partnership.

To nominate a publication, simply download the ALA nomination form at www.burtonawards.com and send two copies to The Burton Awards for Legal Achievement, #0051, 67 Wall Street, 22nd Floor, New York, New York 10005-3198. Include two copies of the publication along with the short nomination form. Nominations can only be entered by ALA-member law firm administrators. There is no lengthy application process and no entry fee. All entries must be received by March 31, 2006. There is no limitation on length or format. If a newsletter or publication is published regularly during the year it is suggested that no less than a sampling of up to four be forwarded.

The Burton Awards are sponsored by the Association of Legal Administrators, with LexisNexis as a participating contributor. For further information or if you have questions, please call the Burton Awards directly at (917) 376-8900.

With my best wishes,

David P. Constantine
President
