Resume Bank

The Capital Chapter's Resume Bank is designed to place prospective employers in touch with administrators and other legal administration employees. Firms seeking an administrative employee may contact Cheryl Pascal at (202) 521-6795 to request copies of the resumes in its care. The fee for this service is $200 per request.

It should be understood that there is no evaluation or recommendation of either employer firms or applicants. All inquiries are handled in strict confidence in accordance with the following rules:

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The Resume Bank of the Capital Chapter of ALA only accepts resumes from members in good standing with ALA International. An applicant must be a member of ALA for 90 days before he or she can place a resume in the Bank.

  • All resumes in the Chapter's possession are sent to any law firm requesting resumes from the service. This is to ensure that there is no discrimination of any kind against any applicant. The Chapter will, however, take steps to assure that an applicant's resume is not sent to that applicant's current employer.

  • While resumes will be provided to organizations other than law firms, in no event will resumes be provided to entities considered to be "vendors" to the legal community, to management consultants or to recruiting firms.

  • The Resume Bank does not furnish applicants with the names of firms to whom their resumes have been submitted, since many firms require anonymity.

APPLICANT INFORMATION

  • Applicants wishing to participate in the Resume Bank should submit 20 original copies of their resume to Cheryl Pascal at 1255 23rd Street, Suite 200 Washington DC 20037. If the applicant so desires, a cover letter may be attached to the resume. Chapter will advise the applicant if and when additional copies of the resume are needed.

  • Applicants should notify the Chapter when they obtain employment.

  • Applicants no longer employed in the field of legal administration and who have not accepted a position in conflict with ALA's membership criteria are eligible to use the Resume Bank for a period not to exceed twelve months.

  • Every six months, verification will be made of all applicant resumes on file to determine continued interest in circulation.

EMPLOYER INFORMATION

  • A representative of the Chapter may, if asked, meet the inquiring law firm to answer questions as to the function of an Administrator, the qualifications needed, components of a job description, etc. Again, it is stressed that the Chapter does not recommend any individual.

  • A fee to cover processing and handling, determined by the Executive Committee, will be charged to firms seeking resumes. This fee is $200. Employers should make their checks payable to "ALA Capital Chapter."

  • Firms requesting resumes will be provided additional resumes at no charge within one month of the original request.

  • When firms have filled their positions, they are requested to notify the Chapter.
